EU legislation research

This section guides you through the EU legislatory and harmonized standards research.

In this current version CERTAIN now covers the following directives.

  • The Machinery Directive 2006/42/EG
  • The Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU

We plan to extend this list as we move forward.

The first step in this research is to confirm whether one or more of these directives are applicable to your product. This is clarified very simply by answering the preliminary directive questions.

1. Select EU Legislation Research in the process overview.​

The next and third step in the process is to carry out the EU legislation search. Clicking on the research bullet will take you to the first directive questions.

2. The directive questions​

These questions will clarify which directives are relevant for your product.

Answer them by clicking yes or no.

3. Explanatory text​

If you need some help answering the question click on the drop down explanatory text below the question.

4. Original text​

If instead you wish to view the original text from the relevant directive, click on the drop down below the question.

5. Click on End directive research​

To record you answers, make sure to save your research before leaving this questionnaire.

6. Relevant directives listed​

Based on the previous questions, CERTAIN will add the relevant directive(s) as bullets in the process overview. The legislative research will continue based solely on these directives identified (in this case only the Machinery Directive). If more than one directive is listed, then the research questions will continue to include all of those relevant.
