Introduction
Welcome to CERTAIN — your cloud-based platform for CE marking projects.
Whether you develop and manufacture your own machinery, import or distribute products within the European market, or support clients as a CE consultant — we are delighted to welcome you to the CERTAIN community.
CERTAIN has been developed to significantly reduce the time, complexity and administrative burden associated with CE conformity and technical documentation. The platform guides users through the entire CE assessment process in a structured, logical and collaborative manner, ensuring safety, consistency and conformity at every stage of the project.
Just as European legislation is constantly evolving, so too is CERTAIN.
In addition to fully supporting the current Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, CERTAIN now also integrates the new Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 during the transition period until January 2027, when the Machinery Regulation becomes fully binding within the European Union. This enables manufacturers and consultants to align their projects with the future legal framework as early as today.
CERTAIN now goes beyond mere machinery compliance. The platform is progressively supporting the integration of additional CE-relevant directives and regulations, so that declarations of conformity — where applicable — can also cover the following directives and regulations:
- Low Voltage Directive (LVD)
- Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC)
- Radio Equipment Directive (RED)
- Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)
- Outdoor Noise Directive
- ATEX
- Pressure equipment and other product-related regulations
Further regulatory integrations are continuously under development. See Table 1 below for details.
To provide further support for research and technical assessment, CERTAIN now also features powerful AI-powered research tools in conjunction with intelligent EUR-Lex integration. These tools help users identify relevant harmonised standards, research hazards and assess complex regulatory requirements more efficiently and accurately than ever before.
CERTAIN is constantly evolving through close collaboration with manufacturers, CE specialists and industry partners. Ongoing user feedback drives continuous improvement of the user interface, workflow optimisation, user-friendliness, and project and collaboration features. In addition, integrated translation tools now support the creation of multilingual technical documentation and operating instructions for international markets.
The platform guides users step by step through the critical CE marking process, including:
- Product and project structuring
- Directive and standard research
- Hazard identification and risk assessment
- Creation of operating instructions
- Preparation of the Declaration of Conformity
- Machine type plate and CE marking
and all within a secure and centralised cloud environment.
With its powerful AWS cloud infrastructure and the extensive en:plan CE knowledge base, CERTAIN represents a significant advance in digital CE project management, collaboration and data security.
In addition to supporting manufacturers and CE consultants, CERTAIN is increasingly developing into a valuable learning and collaboration platform for training organisations, technical educational institutions and engineering education. This effectively bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge of conformity and practical implementation.
The system has been designed to be intuitive, self-explanatory and user-friendly. This comprehensive WiKi documentation package is also available to assist you should you require further support.
