Multi-language operation

This WiKi section will explain how CERTAIN can be used in different multilingual operation modes , tasks and for document creation.

1. User interface language​

1. Choosing the application language (UI)​

CERTAIN offers two desktop UI language options.

  • English
  • German

CERTAIN can be operated with complete functionality, includung all help infos, explanatory and original texts in these languages.

The application automatically defaults on initial startup to English, unless the browser is set to German.

At any time the complete application can be switched between the two using the button with the flag on the bottom left.

⚠️ Tip​

This only adjusts the user interface (UI) and does not affect the chosen project, any entered texts or any CE documentation. It only changes the user application language.

2. Original Project language​

2. Defining the original project language​

When beginning a CE marking project and starting the process to collect both information and documentation, it is important to first decide on the official

" Original project language "

This ensures that all information is consistent throughout the project and that specific documents are declared as being either in the 'Original' language or 'Translated'.

The language you choose will form the basis for the original declarations and documentation you produce. Any translations you later automatically create in CERTAIN will be translated from this original set of documentation. This is your master version.

CERTAIN offers currently the following original project languages.

  • Dutch
  • English
  • German
  • Italien
  • Polish

⚠️ Tip​

This language choice is independant from the selected (UI) screen application language. It is project specific and every project you create has it's own original language choice, which you have defined.

3. Defining the original project language.​

Defining the original project language is done during project creation.

Click on "Create new product" from the main product list screen. The full project creaton process is described in a different WiKi chapter under this link.

Here we are focussing just on project language choice.

4. Choose the original project language​

Click on the language selection and pick the original (or master) language for this project. This choice is important as already mentioned and cannot be changed later.* Choose the language for which you will be creating all original texts and documentation and declarations.

5. Create a new project or duplicate an existing one​

Choose whether you are basing the new project on an existing product or starting from scratch.
Then click on "Create"

6. Display the defined original project language.​

The chosen original project language is displayed in the project overview screen under "Supported languages"

7. Creating your final documents in different languages.​

CERTAIN is designed to accelerate documentation preparation. This includes also translating your project documentation and declarations into different foreign languages.
CERTAIN currently includes AI supported document and declaration translations into the following languages:

  • Dutch
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Polish

This list will grow as we see market demands develop in new language regions.

In this section we are focussing just on language choice.

⚠️ Tip​

The document language choices are independant from the selected (UI) screen application language. Language changes to the UI have no impact on original documentation, document translations or document revisions.

8. Translating your project documentation​

Once your project is ready for documention to be rendered in the latest updated (or previous) revision click on the process step CE Documentation.

9. Click on "Create complete document revision set"​

10. Document creation menu​

A preliminary menu will appear listing the documents available to render and offering two choices.

  • Dry Run

    If you wish to view the documents to check them for validity and proof reading without creating a complete new revision at this point, click on Dry run.

  • Official document revision

    If you have revieved all the documentation and wish to generate an official new revision, click on Official document revision.

11. Name the Revison​

Add the revision number and describe it in the comments section.

The revision name only contain letters, numbers, and the characters : _ - .

12. Choose the languages​

The original project language will already be checked. Tick the other languages you wish to include and translate your documentation into, in this example:

  • Original language - English
  • Languages to be translated - French and Italien

When ready click on "Create Documents"

13. The rendering process​

While rendering, the progress is displayed to provide an indication that the process is ongoing. Depending on the quantity of documentation and the number of selected languages, this may take a few minutes.

14. Document list​

Once rendering is complete, the list of documents is displayed with the revision name at the top. On the right the number of files and languages can be seen.

15. View or download the translated documents.​

By clicking on the arrow to the right of each listed document, the list of translation versions will open.

  • Click on the eye to view a preview the pdf document.
  • Click on the downloaad button to download it directly.

16. Document Preview​

Dependant on browser and pdf viewer, the documents here can be viewed, downloaded and if necesary printed.

17. Translation and the Use of AI​

A key element of our mission is to provide compliant documentation solutions.

We have prepared templates in multiple languages to ensure that official document titles — directives, regulations, and standards — are referenced exactly as published in each country.

User-written descriptive texts, instructions, and data entries are automatically translated into the selected target languages using modern AI.
