Multilevel authentication

CERTAIN offers state of the art data and account protection and without long and difficult passwords. Instead we use multiple authentication methods which you choose. The options are simple to use and explained in detail in this next section.

Do I have to do this?

For reasons of data security, multifactor authentication is mandatory when using the CERTAIN application. However, if you wish, you may continue to log in with the one time Magic-Links using e-mail verification for as long as you require. You always have the option to add an even more secure method at a later date.

Our Security recommendation - Passkeys

We recommend that you significantly increase the security of your account by adding a "passwordless authentication method".

What are they exactly?

Passwordless authentication with Passkeys replaces traditional passwords with unique digital keys that are keys stored on your device and protected by biometric data, a security code or physical keys (e.g. physical keys (e.g.: Yubi-Keys). This allows you to log in securely and easily every time, without having to memorise complex and unique passwords.

The authentication passkeys available to you depend on the device you are using. Here are all the current options available.

  • Windows PIN - (Hello)
  • Biometric face recognition - Camera
  • Biometric fingerprint - Sensor
  • QR Code scan - Cell phone
  • Physical passkey - Yubi-Key or equivalent

Alternatively, you can add an authentication method later in the main menu section, settings, security. Once you have added an authentication method, you can authenticate with your new passwordless method the next time you log in.

1. How do I add a passwordless authentication method?​

You can click on the "Add method" button below. Your browser will then start the process to create a passkey.

You will be prompted to either scan a QR code with your mobile phone, insert a hardware key or use the biometric (fingerprint or camera) function on your computer. Follow the process depending on your choice of key.
